Response to U.S. sanctions placed on Chinese officials last week.
On Monday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that it would be imposing sanctions on 11 American citizens including Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Tom Cotton. These diplomatic actions come after the U.S. placed sanctions on Chinese officials that have taken away the political freedom of Hongkongers and for human rights abuses in the western region of China.
The senators selected by the Chinese government have been vocal critics of the tactics used by China to reign in protests over the last two years, as well as the treatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang. Various heads of U.S. organizations for democracy were targeted by China as well. The sanctions against U.S. citizens freeze any assets owned in China, and bar any business transitions that could take place.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to lead the Trump Administration on the best course of action with China.
- For the Senators affected by the sanctions to work to secure a peaceful outcome.
- That God would lead the State Department to conduct effective diplomacy.
